My Favorite Sites

I am writing a book about raising a family of athletes, and I have created this website –

The Mom in the Stands. My philosophy is that excellent athletes tend to come from families who understand the value of sports as a lifestyle choice, and that these values not only make for excellent athletes, but good people, too.

I guess I should have known I would be the mom of an athletic family. I met my husband Gregg running on a remote dirt road in Makena, Hawaii at 5am  - the year after I ran a 2:48 marathon to qualify for the first Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials.  As parents we both valued and focused on family through athletic and academic achievement.  Today, our son is a senior playing water polo at Princeton, and our daughter is a junior student/athlete at Stanford.

I hope you can find some of my experience and advice useful, and I hope to help you build a family glued together through athletics.
